Effective trade event
The Ministry of Industry and Trade host Vietnam Expo in coordination with other ministries, departments, localities, trade promotion organizations and Vinexad Company.
Over the past 28 years, Vietnam Expo has become one of the biggest trade promotion events of the year for the Vietnamese industry and trade sector. “Vietnam Expo has brought practical opportunities to help Vietnamese businesses increase exports and develop the domestic market,” Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said.
According to Do Thang Hai, new trends and economic developments globally have had a significant impact on multilateral economic cooperation between countries in the region, presenting both opportunities and challenges. Hai said Vietnam’s involvement in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will provide many opportunities to access export markets, create more jobs, and boost economic growth.
At Vietnam Expo, international partners meet pioneering exporters in many product groups, such as plastics, rubber, paper, building materials, and industrial aids. Parallel objectives of businesses are to promote and enhance the value of Vietnamese brands in order to develop the domestic market.
Excellent quality, diverse types
This year’s event drew 500 businesses from 23 countries and territories, featuring 600 pavilions. A special display area for creative and high-quality products saw the participation of 11 local trade promotion centers such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tien Giang, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Binh Thuan, Hai Duong, Quang Nam, Yen Bai, Khanh Hoa, and Nghe An.
The items displayed at the event were unique products of high quality and modern technology, such as machinery and equipment for support industries, electronics, food and beverage, and consumer goods.
The Vietnam Value area was a place where Vietnamese enterprises honored with the Vietnam Value title exhibited their locally made products and services. Those include the Da Nang Rubber Joint Stock Company, Duy Tan Plastics Corporation, Dien Quang Lamp Joint Stock Company, and Hanoi Trade Joint Stock Corporation (Hapro). International pavilions also drew attention from visitors. The Republic of Korea’s (RoK) pavilion was the hallmark of the fair.
Jin Il Song from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) said KOTRA provided support for 60 RoK businesses to attend the fair, including those related to consumer goods and spare parts. He also said the fair was an opportunity for RoK businesses to meet companies and partners in other industries, and a chance to understand investment policies of Vietnamese localities and promote trade.
One of the outstanding activities was a workshop on investment promotion for industrial development organized by Vietrade’s Investment Promotion Center for Industry and Trade (Investprocen) in coordination with concerned agencies. At the workshop, experts and speakers made clear the advantages and disadvantages of globalization in trade and production.
International pavilions from countries and territories such as Algeria, Cuba, the RoK, Indonesia, China and other businesses from Nepal, Laos, Mongolia, Cambodia, Poland, and Russia opened up many opportunities for trade and investment cooperation, and technology transfer.
To create focal points for this year’s fair, the organization board focused on developing a number of specific activities to provide advice and support for businesses in trade and investment promotion activities.
